Terms of Service

Plain-English summary: Runa is a Discord bot that tracks server activity and ranks members. You can use it by subscribing for $4.99/month. Don't abuse it, don't try to break it, and we'll keep the lights on. If you cancel, your sub ends at the end of the current billing period. No refunds, but you can cancel any time.

1. Who We Are

Runa ("Runa," "we," "us," or "our") is a Discord bot service operated by an individual based in Utah, United States. Runa includes the Discord bot (sometimes called "BattleKitten"), the web dashboard at runabot.xyz, and any related services we provide (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by Discord's Terms of Service in your country, whichever is higher) to use Runa. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement.

You also agree to comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Runa is built on top of Discord and depends on your Discord account remaining in good standing.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

Price and renewal

Runa costs $4.99 USD per month per Discord server. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. Prices may change in the future; if they do, we'll give you at least 14 days' notice before the change affects your account.

Payment processor

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. By subscribing you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from the mod panel on the dashboard. When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period, then stops renewing. The bot stops providing paid features when the period ends.

No refunds

All payments are non-refundable. We do not offer pro-rated refunds for partial months or for periods where you didn't actively use the Service. If Stripe issues a chargeback on your behalf or at your request, we may immediately suspend your access pending resolution.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, we may suspend or terminate the subscription after a reasonable grace period. You're responsible for keeping your payment method current.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service in a way that violates Discord's Terms of Service or any applicable law.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, copy, or resell the Service or its data.
Interfere with or disrupt the Service (spamming, DoS attempts, exploiting bugs, etc.).
Use the Service to harass, threaten, defame, or harm other users.
Inflate your own stats through automated means, alt accounts, or other manipulation. We reserve the right to reset fraudulent stats and/or revoke access without refund.
Share your account or subscription credentials with anyone else.

We may suspend or terminate access, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms.

5. Service Availability

We work to keep Runa running reliably, but we do not guarantee uptime. The Service is provided "as-is" and "as available." Downtime may occur due to maintenance, Discord API issues, hosting problems, or other factors outside our control. We don't provide SLAs or service credits for outages.

We may also change, pause, or discontinue features (including the entire Service) with reasonable notice where practical. If we shut the Service down entirely, we'll cancel active subscriptions so you aren't billed for a service that no longer exists.

6. Your Content and Data

The Service records activity data from your Discord server (message counts, voice minutes, reactions, etc.) and stores some user-configurable settings (custom rank card backgrounds, color choices, display-name preferences, etc.). You retain ownership of any content you upload (like rank card backgrounds), but you grant us a non-exclusive license to host, display, and process that content for the purpose of providing the Service.

7. Intellectual Property

The Runa name, logo, website, dashboard, bot code, and all related design and branding are our property. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without permission. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you.

8. Third-Party Services

Runa integrates with third parties including Discord (bot platform and OAuth login), Stripe (payments), and OpenAI (Luna AI responses, where applicable). We are not responsible for the availability, behavior, or terms of those third parties. Your use of them is subject to their own terms and policies.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL RUNA OR ITS OPERATORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) $50 USD.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Runa and its operators harmless from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

12. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by cancelling your subscription and removing the bot from your server. We can suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — including if you violate these Terms.

On termination, the provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive will survive (including IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification).

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where practical, give notice through the Service or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
